The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is asking parents and caregivers to review practical personal-safety habits with children. Its October 27 reminder focuses on recognizing situations that feel uncomfortable and knowing how to respond when a guardian is not present.
The force recommends helping children remember their name, address and emergency contact numbers. It also advises travelling to school or a bus stop with a parent, sibling or friends, and avoiding unfamiliar vehicles and gifts from strangers.
The release is general prevention advice, rather than notice of a particular incident. Families can read the full police guidance and discuss how it applies to their children’s usual routes.
